Cypress Place is designed with a sustainable approach to storm water management. Storm water is channeled into a permeable collection system that promotes ground water infiltration. Pollutants and sediment are filtered by aquatic plants in the rain garden demonstration area before infiltrating back into the ground water system.

In the design of Cypress Place a grove of significant mature conifers were preserved as a natural green space within the development and the landscaping features drought resistant plants native to the Whistler area. For the various built elements of Cypress Place, materials were sourced within 500 miles of the development area to reduce the carbon footprint of transportation and to support local natural industries.

The Nicklaus North master plan balances community living with the preservation of natural flora and fauna. The Golf Course is certified by Audubon International which recognizes golf courses that protect the environment, conserve natural re-sources, and provide wildlife habitats.
